Fabric Basket and Pincushion Caddy

DSCN2313
I made this today. Bookmarked the tutorial a long time ago but decided that today is the day.
Thank you Ayumi for the tute.

Two days ago, I made this. It’s a pincushion caddy!!! See all the pins ?!

It’s from a book Seams to Me by Anna Maria Horner. I have not seen the book but saw a picture of the caddy in Flickr. My first thought was “ it looks like a ball..a ball with a hole in the centre! ”

So, I googled for a ‘fabric ball pattern’….. and there were ‘About 2,140,000 results (0.19 seconds)’ !

After I printed the pattern, I put on my thinking cap …..

Perfect sewing companion!

Question: Will I be infringing copyright if I make a tutorial for the pincushion caddy?

  1. I simply adore the pincushion caddy!!!! I am always losing my scissors or my seam picker or everything else. To do a tutorial you could probably add something to it to make it your own...like a bottom? I would love to see how you did this!

What're you gonna put in that pretty basket? :)

  3. Wow! Both turned out great! The pincushion/caddy is a great way to keep track of the tools of the trade.

  8. These are fabulous! I want at least one of each :o) As for the copyright, read up on copyright laws here: http://www.copyright.gov/help/faq/ And, you can always contact the designer and ask for permission. That would be the easiest way to start. Good luck! I look forward to a tutorial. Happy Sewing! :o)

  10. Well done with both the basket and the caddy. I had heard the caddy was hard to put together. I shall have to have a go at making one! I think the one in my book has a bottom to it.
