Faire la Bise

 

I took days to decide what to do my my Faire la Bise block. I wanted something fast and practical.

 

 

I quilted around the hearts….

 

 

…added some strips and quilted both sides with this lovely stitch …..

 

 

…added broader strips and quilted straight lines….

..and I made another table runner!!!

Very soon, all the tables and counter tops in my house will be covered !

Disappearing ‘Flowers’ Placemats

 

Finally completed the matching placemats for my Disappearing ‘Flowers’ Table Runner. This time the nine patch is looking more ‘disappearing’. I placed the dark fabric where I’d be cutting into, so it ended up with smaller squares, hence the dark fabric is less overbearing. Looks much better .

Hexie Pieced Pot Holder

 

 

 

I love to keep my hands busy all the time..especially when I am watching the telly. 

This is Blue Wrens Nest  by Cinderberry Stitches.

 

 

 

 

Do you see those hexagons?

I pieced the hexagons and appliqued the Blue Wren Nest . Then made it into a pot holder . Made a pair, actually. The one on the right is the reverse side.

 

My sister has been under the weather lately. So this is for her to cheer her up !

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

My Tutorial Made It..again!

I made it to Totally Tutorials..again!

My ‘No Bias Binding Hexagon Coaster’ first made it there.

This time, my little Hexie Tote-Along Pouch was featured!

Hotpads for my sister

Remember these hotpads/pot holders I made for my mum and mum-in-law?
My sister wanted too!!! :D

So here they are..a pair.

Am having fun with applique. Stitched a three-petal flower and a stem which doubles as a loop to hang! Machine quilted around..around…and around it to give it the quilted effect!

Applique Placemats

Finally… I get to write about this. I’ve made these placemats two weeks ago and my daughter took these photos for me…but it’s in RAW format and I don’t know how to turn it into jpeg! But she finally gave them to me last night. (Thanks sweetheart!)

  

Made this for my mum. Been practising machine applique. Added some french knots at the center of the flowers.

 

Made these for the tv room. We love to eat in front of the telly!

 

Remember these birds? I downloaded the applique shapes from Don’t Look Now !

It’s the reverse of the original because I forgot to flip over the shape! But it turn out good anyway!

Hot Pads.. Pot Holders

I’ve been making hot pads…pot holders! Made them as gifts for my family for the Lunar New Year a.k.a. Chinese New Year. You see, with all the cooking for the reunion dinners, I thought this would be handy to keep those fingers from getting burnt!

I used the stitch and flip method a.k.a. quilt as you go method.

Used this method for my earlier coasters.

  

Then I went a little crazy with this …….

…then I remembered I have some stitchery done some time back. So, I place one at the bottom centre of the batting..but it didn’t turn out centre at all! (left pic)

…so for the next one I just placed it.. a little tilted off-centre!

…ahhh…this is why I love hexagons! Made a hexagonal ‘window’ for my stitchery. Love it!

These are going to my mum and mum-in-law… :D
